Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities stated on late Wednesday. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on December 29th, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, representatives had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.

“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.

Honoring the Deceased

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”

His release from the hospital comes as the boxing community offered condolences for the champion in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
