The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Show from the Creators of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.

The latest Far Cry instalment that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for delighting in chaos and madness with equal enthusiasm, all while weaving engaging, ideologically themed stories. It’s no surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry seasonal program pulled in two creators whose projects have represented all of those qualities.

Show Details

Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game series, the short-run anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' format by featuring a fresh location and cast of characters in subsequent series.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

“FX has had outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this beloved property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we do not know what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the creator.

“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, entrusting us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX partners always encourages me with their steady confidence and assistance.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone show. Every instalment is a interpretation of a theme, the same way every series of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” said Hawley. “To create a big action show that can evolve from year to year, while always examining the core of people through this multifaceted and unpredictable perspective, is a ultimate goal. I’m excited to partner with Rob and present our mutual irreverent, visionary sensibility to the screen.”

A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
